Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an exam and x-rays?
Although we work closely with your general dentist and they also provide exams along with x-rays, Dr. Adornato’s comprehensive periodontal examination is to evaluate for any signs of infection or bone loss. We also need a current full mouth set of x-rays (within 6 months) in order to see periodontal disease not otherwise visible. The fee for x-rays taken in our office is included with your periodontal examination. If your referring dentist has taken current x-rays, we will have them forwarded to our office.
What will it cost?
Since all patients are different, Dr. Adornato must complete your examination before establishing your treatment plan and the fee for care. The fee for periodontal treatment can vary depending on the type of care needed along with the complexity and length of treatment. An approximate fee will be presented to you at your first visit. Our philosophy of practice is to treat as conservatively as possible to attain maximum treatment goals.
I have insurance, will treatment be covered?
Dental insurance policies often cover a portion of the cost of periodontal treatment. Please bring your dental insurance information or card to your first visit. Although it’s not required by most insurance carriers, after your consultation with Dr. Adornato we will send a preauthorization to your insurance carrier so you will know what will be covered before your treatment is started. We are very proud of our efforts to obtain the maximum insurance coverage for our patients!
When will I go back to my dentist?
Dr. Adornato and your dentist will work closely together. When treatment is complete in our office, we often recommend you alternate your cleanings between offices to keep any periodontal infection under control. If any crowns or fillings are needed, your dentist will provide them.
